The Courtyard Garden, Walthamstow
A charming courtyard garden that provides a scenic backdrop for both the house and the garden studio.
Inspiration was taken from dry/gravel gardens including the Walled Garden at Knepp, Delos at Sissinghurst and Derek Jarmon's Prospect Cottage.
A simple palette of natural materials that age well were chosen to develop a sense of character. Bespoke timber fencing was made on site from UK grown Chestnut. Reclaimed granite setts and kerb stones were chosen to tie into the period architecture of the house and laid through gravel and planting.
A multi-stemmed Malus evereste (Crab apple) provides seasonal displays as well as berries for the birds and is underplanted with Seleria autumnalis and Deschampsia cespitosa. Structural verbascums run through the airy grasses and are combine with zingy perennials for seasonal interest.
What the client says
Theo and Ethan were fantastic – super friendly, easy to work with, and really know their stuff. They made the whole process stress-free and the end result is a beautiful garden that feels natural and unique. Couldn’t recommend Wilder Landscapes more!
