The Stables, Clapton
With this project, we set out to create a garden that compliments the beautiful house renovation works designed by architecture firm Sanchez Benton.
The garden already benefited from a number of mature trees, a converted stable yard next door and an old WW2 Anderson bomb shelter, so the design centred around these features.
Stableyard cobbles were a fitting choice given the history of the site, and we created two separate seating areas connected by a self-binding gravel path. For the fencing, we sourced reclaimed corrugated tin panels to tie into the bomb shelter, which we renovated to be a garden shed.
We had a lot of fun bringing out the rusty tones of the fencing through the planting scheme. The seedheads of the tall ornamental grass Calamagrostis × acutiflora 'Karl Foerster' do this perfectly, while also adding height and movement.
What the client says
Our garden was overgrown and needed a complete makeover. Wilder Landscapes have created the most beautiful space for us and helped with decisions around planting and fencing to fulfil our vision. The team were always responsive if we needed any help throughout the project and we were super impressed with how quickly they got everything done
